The City of Leipzig extends an Official Invitation to choirs from around the world to participate in the Leipzig International Choral Festival. This will be an outstanding opportunity to develop your choral skills and to meet and perform with singers from other countries in an enjoyable city with a unique musical tradition. During the July 2009 Leipzig International Choral Festival, your choir will enjoy attending workshops with internationally acclaimed Artistic Director Jonathan Willcocks and performing at individual and joint friendship concerts. The Festival will come to a resounding conclusion with the massed choir gala finale in the world renowned Gewandhaus. The July 2009 International Festival in Leipzig will be a memorable event you and your choir will not want to miss.

n behalf of all its inhabitants, I am delighted to invite you to the city of Leipzig.

It is no exaggeration to say there is scarcely another city in Europe with a musical pedigree equal to Leipzig’s. Not only do we have strong connections with Bach, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Wagner but also our Gewandhaus orchestra is among the world’s finest. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of fascinating cultural and historical attractions, both in the city and the surrounding countryside.

Our citizens are great music lovers and you can expect a warm reception and appreciative audiences when visiting our city. The 2008 International Choral Festival was a resounding success and we are proud as a city to be hosting this event. Dear Choir Director,

hen I established Casterbridge Tours in 1979 it was with the dream of encouraging people to travel, interact and learn from the experience.

The annual Leipzig International Choral Festival is very much a manifestation of those dreams. At the first night of the 2008 festival over 500 singers received a standing ovation from the 2000 people in the audience. I am proud that this is one of our greatest achievements. Join us in this unique musical experience, as singers from around the world gather in this most musical of cities to both perform and interact together. From such events as these, lifetime friendships are born.

Casterbridge is proud to be associated with such a prestigious event and I commend you to bring your choirs to the historic city of Leipzig and share in this a unique and special musical experience.
